WHAT TO DO IN SINAIA?

Castelul Peleș și munții Bucegi

Sinaia is a famous mountain (and ski) resort and a symbolic historical town for Romania.

  • Mountains and nature: You can go up by cable car or gondola up to Cota 2000 (or from Bușteni by cable car to Babele) and then take a few walks on the Bucegi plateau. The road to Crucea on Caraiman is spectacular and the views are worth the effort. On the Bucegi plateau you can reach Piatra Arsă, the Omu peak (2507m altitude, the highest peak in Bucegi), or you can visit the Peștera monastery, a church built inside a cave).

Peleș Castle, one of the most beautiful castles in Europe, is the castle of the kings of Romania. It was built in 1875, it has a spectacular architecture and position, and at the time of its construction it was the first castle in Europe with electric lighting. It is worth visiting Sinaia even only for the Peleș Castle.
